Have you ever thought about whether your cloud services are secure? Where the data is stored and processed? Many companies use cloud services, sometimes without even realizing it. The use of Microsoft Office 365 is an essential part of almost every company. There are also services such as Dropbox, Zoom and other services.

In many Companies, some tools are used by users or cloud services are used that run under the “radar” of the IT department and therefore outside the security concept. This poses very big risks!

Services are quickly booked with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and things are tested, but then they forget to deactivate them again and the gateway is there. This makes it easy for any “attacker” to penetrate your company and access your sensitive data.

These are just a few examples that I have also experienced during my time in the Cloud / Cyber Security industry. The whole thing can very quickly cost millions in damage and lead to damage to your brand.

Another important area is to understand the attack surface and path of the attack or potential attack in your environment. What is the context and the path a potential attacker try to go.

That will give you a much better understanding of what’s happening and how to better protect your environment. There so much things you have to be aware of, Cloud, on-premise, Code, DevOps Pipelines etc.

Another very underestimated but also important part is social media.

Almost everyone uses it, but very few are aware of the security aspect. What topics and areas need to be considered and how can you protect yourself? Will sensitive data from my company be published or insights made available that you don’t want? How is my company represented? This can very quickly damage your company’s image and ruin it.

We have been dealing with Social Media for a long time, its possibilities and challenges. It is both a blessing and a curse. You can increase your reach in a very short time and massively increase Sales figures. However, you can just as quickly put your company in a negative light and achieve the opposite.

It is such easy to create it and make use of. Can you imagine what it means if someone suse uch a technology and will let you (virtually) talk in a Video about something you never said? There is someone give you a call or sent you an email with a request, information, a link or even a picture. That can leads to steal your credentials or route you to suspicious Websites.

We all had that kind of situation and the chance to be a victim is higher than ever before. Imagine you have a busy day and after reading a lot of emails or have to get some stuff done with a deadline you get a sms, WhatsApp or email with suspicious stuff. The chance that someone click the link or answer the sms is very high.

A lot of that spam are very good, they look like internal systems or famous websites. It will get more and more difficult to recognise the difference.

A lot of big companies use internal tests with fake spam to make employees aware what can happen but even to test their knowledge.
